What is Giardiniera?

Giardiniera, pronounced JAR-DIN-AIR-AH, is a mixture of vegetables that have been pickled in salt brine and vinegar. With origins in Italy, you'll commonly find vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower, celery, green beans, olives, onions, and peppers, along with flavorings like mustard seeds, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes in both mild and hot varieties. What sets Triple G's Chicago Style Giardiniera apart is that after pickling, we package in a rich combination of soy and olive oil as opposed to vegetable oil used in the traditional recipe.

Giardineira, which means "from the garden," was born as a solution to the  abundance of vegetables grown in Italy's sunny Mediterranean climate. A resourceful and humble approach to making the most of your garden, many Italian Americans paid tribute to their heritage by introducing giardiniera to everyday plates. With both taste and health benefits, areas of the United States with Italian communities helped spread the popularity of giardiniera by adding it to various dishes including sandwiches, pizza, salads, hot dogs, hamburgers, and more!
